Story-telling Festival in Lancashire, at the heart of the Spook’s World…
Today, accompanied by Mary Wynburg and her family of ‘The Corner Bookshop’, Garstang, I visited Chipping, Lancashire, to attend the annual Story-telling Festival presented by the children of St Mary’s School.
Organized by Chris Stringer, the day was really enjoyable with lots of interesting and spectacular events performed by the enthusiastic school children. Chipping has a really strong sense of community and it was a good family day out.

I gave two talks, to mixed audiences of children and adults; in the second group was a party from Lancashire Libraries who had been doing a Spook’s walk over Wolf Fell. It was the first time I have ever done an event in Chipping and for me it was a special occasion because that village (known as ‘Chipenden’ in the books) is the very heart of the Spook’s World and the place where he lives during the summer months. For all readers of the books it is a place you must visit one day - maybe next year’s festival at the school?

The whole community was thrilled and delighted to have Joseph Delaney talk about his books at our Festival;the children have talked about nothing else all week and feel even more part of Chippingdom now!

That looked great.
I just have one query regarding the latest installment, I really want it but can only find the new reissue type covers, I have been collecting the original hardback covers and I want to keep collecting these (they look so good on my bookcase!), will the book be available in the old style covers?
Cheers

Just finished reading Spook’s Sacrifice and discovered this website. I don’t know how I missed this website for so long, anyway, glad I know of it now and will be coming back regularly. My only gripe is that I missed the Spook’s Sacrifice Tour. I would have travelled to Lancashire, had I known!

I just want to thank Joseph Delaney, the author of The Last Apprentice series. For after the Harry Potter series, my children (11 and 14) stop reading. But by shear luck, I found your book in the county library. Once I checked it out and brought it home they were reading once more. Thank you for bringing the joy of reading back to them.

I am from Denmark and I have all of your books, they are really good.
And I look forward to the film if it comes to Denmark, and also the 6th book. Is it the last one, or are you going Harry Potter style and making seven?
Hugs from Nicole

i’ve been looking for information on the Spooks Nightmare and i found this information:
The Spook, Tom and Alice return from Greece to find the County under siege - and the Spook’s home burnt to the ground. With his precious library of knowledge destroyed, they seek refuge on the nearby island of Mona. But with Mona in the thrall of a twisted Shaman there is little respite from hostility or denizens of the dark. And as Alice dodges the ever-tightening net of the island’s witch hunters, a more deadly enemy emerges…Bony Lizzie, freshly-escaped from the Spook’s bonds, has grand ambitions: to take for herself the throne of isle. She has harnessed the services of a tunnel-dwelling buggane, an evil creature which thrives on stealing the animas, or life force, from its unsuspecting victims. With the buggane as her secret weapon can she become an all-powerful Witch Queen?
